Caroline - 4 months

Today Caroline is 4 months old. I love watching her personality emerge, and she is really becoming her own little person. I call her our little pterodactyl because she just shrieks! It's more of like sucking in air when she gets really excited, which makes the shrieking sounds. It's pretty darn cute. She loves her hear herself, so she is constantly yelling - no real syllables yet, just the "ahh!!" She is becoming more social - loves to smile and flirt with people, but she is still very much a Mama's girl for now.

Caroline still has one or two nights a week where she has her "drama queen" moments. I don't call it colic, but that's the closest thing I can describe it as. She just is mad at everything. I don't love it, but it's espially awful when we are anywhere but home. I hate that she often chooses to do it at our friends' houses. Makes me feel like a failure as a mom, but there's just nothing you can do. Boy, when she is mad - you know it. I have a feeling her teenage years are going to be super fun.

Caroline LOVES her big brother, and he loves her right back. THIS is why people have more than one baby. It's perfect. I know that all too soon, they will be fighting nonstop and hating each other, but right now - all they know is love. <3 Caroline watches her big brother so intensely, and he loves to hold, hug, and kiss her and random moments. This morning, he told me that he was Mommy, and he wanted to feed Caroline. I looked as he was lifting his shirt. I had to laugh as I told him that it doesn't really work that way. Which reminds me, one morning before work, I was feeding Caroline, and Max was next to me on the couh. He was telling me, "I like her eyes. I like her hair. Do you like my hair? I like your boob." I laughed so hard. (Boy, he is really going to love me for these stories, isn't he??!)
Back to the big girl - she is still sleeping pretty great. Most nights we wake up 0-1 time. I am so thankful that she is a sleeper. Naps are okay I think, we don't have very structured days on the weekends because we are always doing something.

We are still breastfeeding exclusively. I think Caroline has only had two actual bottles of formula. I don't pump as much daily, that she eats in a day, but somehow with a few extra pumpings in the early morning or on weekends, we have kept up pretty decently. It's stressful, though. I wish I had enough of a stash to not worry about it, and to be able to go out for the evening, or even overnight, but at this point, it's impossible. It's okay, though. I'm proud of us. :)

Caroline has a check-up on Tuesday, so I'll update with measurements then. I'm also expecting us to get the go ahead to start cereal. I'm undecided if we will go ahead and start it, or wait a little bit longer.
